Citizens Alert Notification System (CANS)Stay Aware! When crime happens in Thousand Oaks, find out about it fast! Register for the Citizens' Alert Notification System (CANS) to receive E-mail crime alerts from the THousand Oaks Police Department.
Area residents can Subscribe online to receive crime-prevention news and information directly in their email boxes from Sr. Deputy Lee Morris, head of the Thousand Oaks Police Crime Prevention Unit. As crime is reported, Deputy Morris can send a Citizens Alert via the Citizens Alert Notification System (CANS).
Developed by TOneighborhoodwatch.org to link police to its neighborhood watch participants, CANS is open to any interested area resident. No longer will they wait to read these items in the newspaper days later.
While the system will be vital in distributing information about news-catching criminal activity, such as last November’s child abductions in the Erbes Road area, it will likely be used more often to disseminate everyday crime-prevention information not covered on a weekly summary basis in local papers. Deputy Morris said he is looking forward to getting information such as reports of dangerous materials on playgrounds, as well as other crime-prevention information into the hands of area residents. Once they have been distributed these alerts will be archived on this website by the date of distribution for further reference.
TOneighborhoodwatch.org will not share email addresses or use them for purposes other than CANS alerts or TOneighborhoodwatch.org news and information distribution. |
